Sen Sen Sushi
Why Sen Sen Stands Out
About Sen Sen Sushi
Sen Sen Sushi (鮮選寿司) = Don Don Donki's restaurant debut. JEM: 134 seats, Singapore's first Shinkansen belt. Leverages Donki's Japan procurement network — quality that smaller chains cannot match, at accessible prices.
Niigata Koshiibuki rice milled in-store. Shari from daiginjo + red vinegar + Rishiri kelp dashi — zero chemicals. Norwegian Salmon never-frozen, cut same-day. Bluefin Tuna from Croatia. Uni air-flown from Japan with Japanese QC staff in Singapore.
JEM L3, next to Donki store. Clean minimalist interior. QR code ordering, Shinkansen delivery. Nothing pre-made — all fresh. JP outlet: no belt, more compact. Note: 60-min time limit at JEM.

Understanding Oshi Sushi & Shari
🍣 Osaka's Pressed Sushi
Oshi sushi (押し寿司) = Osaka-style pressed sushi in wooden moulds. Firmer, more compact than nigiri. Edo-period tradition. A distinctive single-bite harmony of topping and rice.
Shari (sushi rice) = at least as important as the fish. Sen Sen's shari: Koshiibuki rice (sweet, firm), multi-vinegar blend (daiginjo + red vinegar + Rishiri kelp), prepared fresh in-store. Gentle sweetness + slight acidity that complements the fish.

Editor's Note
A genuine surprise. Donki's sourcing = noticeably better rice and fish than standard chains. Shinkansen is fun for families. Caveats: 60-min time limit feels stressful, sushi-only menu (no bowls/noodles), rice slightly soft for purists, weekend queues. One of the best-value sushi options in Jurong.
