Menya Musashi
Why Menya Musashi
About Menya Musashi
Named after Japan's greatest swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Niten Ichi-ryu two-sword style. Red and Black soup = two paths, both mastered.
1996 Shinjuku. Forefront of Japan's 'new ramen culture' revolution. Westgate = Kodou (Tiger's Den). Compact, iPad ordering, ramen-ya efficiency.
Each SG outlet has a different sub-brand name (Kodou = Tiger's Den). Free noodle upsize = game-changer. iPad ordering = food in 10-15 min. Compact interior = authentic ramen-ya focus.
Ordering strategy: sets = best value. But skip karaage (poorly reviewed). Try grilled squid instead. Red soup = most popular (especially with duck). Black = depth without heat. White = safest for kids.

Ramen Culture
Ramen Revolution
Before the 1990s, ramen = cheap working-class food. Menya Musashi helped transform it into culinary art. When you choose Red or Black, you participate in a 30-year tradition that changed how the world eats noodles.
For visitors unfamiliar with tsukemen: thick cold noodles + hot dipping broth (invented 1961, Tokyo). Menya Musashi is an accessible place to try this fundamental Japanese noodle style.

Editor's Note
Middle ground: more character than Ajisen, more affordable than Ippudo. Duck Ramen with Red soup = excellent. Free upsize = generous. Caveats: reviews are mixed, broth can be too salty, side dishes poorly reviewed, compact space. Recommendation: Aburi Duck or Cha Shu with Red soup + free upsize, skip the sides.
