About

KOMA is one of the most visually arresting restaurants in Singapore — and it knows it. Conceived by TAO Group Hospitality and designed by the world-renowned Rockwell Group, the journey begins even before you sit down: a striking 20-metre passageway of glowing vermillion arches, modelled on Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine, leads you into a sultrily lit lounge. The main dining room is anchored by a towering 2.5-metre-tall Japanese bell suspended above a traditional footbridge, soaring ceilings, and an oversized sushi bar. Executive Chef Hiroshi Shimada's menu takes a bold modern approach — seasonal Japanese produce and seafood from Japan, presented in showstopping form. Think robata-grilled King Crab, Snow-aged Niigata Wagyu Ribeye, and light but precise sushi and sashimi. KOMA has consistently ranked as one of Singapore's top fine dining destinations, earning TripAdvisor's Best of the Best recognition every year from 2022 to 2025.

Your Dining Journey

A guide to the full KOMA experience — from arrival to dessert.

01

Arrival — The Vermillion Archway

Walk slowly through the dramatic vermillion archway. The transition from Marina Bay Sands mall to a recreated Kyoto streetscape is instant and deliberate — pause to take it in before being seated.

02

Opening — Sushi Bar & Starters

Counter seats at the sushi bar require no reservation and are perfect for solo diners. For table guests, begin with cold starters: the Yellowtail Carpaccio and seasonal sashimi set the tone before the robata courses arrive.

03

The Main Event — Robata Grill

The open robata grill is KOMA's centrepiece. Snow-aged Wagyu from Niigata and King Crab Sumiyaki are the standouts — order both and share across the table. The charcoal smoke is part of the theatre.

04

Sushi Course

KOMA's nigiri programme sources premium Japanese fish flown in several times weekly. The omakase sushi course is chef-directed and seasonal — a quieter, more intimate counterpoint to the drama of the robata.

05

Finale — Japanese Desserts

End with the Mochi Ice Cream selection or the matcha-based desserts. The lunch set includes dessert — at dinner, the dessert menu rewards those who save room. The dramatic setting makes even dessert feel like an occasion.

Editor's Note

What to know before you go

KOMA is one of Singapore's most consistently crowd-pleasing Japanese restaurants — it delivers on ambience every single time. The lunch sets offer excellent value for the setting: S$58–68++ gets you a two or three-course meal in one of the most dramatic dining rooms in the city. For dinner, go à la carte and share several dishes across the table — the Snow-aged Wagyu and King Crab Sumiyaki from the robata are standouts. Walk through the vermillion archway at a slow pace: the transition from mall to 'Kyoto' is part of the experience. Counter seats at the sushi bar are available without a reservation, making it a solid walk-in option for sushi lovers.
