Buta Kin
What Makes Buta Kin Special
About Buta Kin
There is a specific joy in finding good Japanese food at hawker prices. Buta Kin serves legit tonkotsu ramen — proper broth, thick chashu, whole hanjuku egg — for under S$10. Restaurant quality at hawker prices.
The stall is on the top floor of Beauty World Food Centre, directly above Beauty World MRT. No air conditioning — pure hawker experience. Operating since 2015 with a loyal following among Bukit Timah residents and ramen-hunting foodies.
The menu is surprisingly extensive. 10+ curry rice options, gyoza, karaage, and salmon donburi bowls. Four broth types — the Black (garlic) and Red (spicy) are standouts. Add-ons about S$1 each.
In 2024, a second outlet opened at Woodlands Horizon with ramen from S$3.90. Beauty World remains the flagship — just 1 minute from MRT, one of the most convenient Japanese stops on the Downtown Line.

Pop Out of the MRT
Beauty World MRT Exit A — 1 minute to the food centre. Level 4, stall #04-28 in the corner. Queue rarely exceeds 5–10 minutes.
Choose Your Bowl
Pick your broth and noodle type. First-timers: Special Tonkotsu (S$7.50–8) for the full experience with thick chashu, whole egg, and all trimmings.
The Bowl Arrives
The chashu is thick-cut and pan-fried — not paper-thin budget slices. Broth is clean, porky, and lighter than heavy-cream styles. Hanjuku egg with proper runny yolk. Generous portions.
Walk It Off Through Bukit Timah
After your bowl, walk to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (5 min) or the Rail Corridor (10 min). Buta Kin is a gateway to one of Singapore's most interesting neighbourhoods.
Editor's Note
Buta Kin is genuine, affordable hawker ramen done with care. Special Tonkotsu (S$7.50–8) is the best entry point. Black Garlic for flavour, Red for spice. No AC — go off-peak. Beauty World MRT is at the doorstep. Perfect pre/post-hike meal for Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
