Maki-San — Asia's First DIY Sushi & Salad (20+ SG Outlets)
MUIS halal. One of only 2 halal Japanese at TBP. Muslim diners wanting sushi: this is it.
What's Special
About Maki-San TBP
Founded 2012 SG (not Japanese — we note this honestly). Inspired by US DIY sushi. 22+ outlets. One of SG's most recognisable halal brands. Now managed by Alvin Wong.
TBP L1 #01-159. Counter service. DIY: 5 fillings + 1 sprinkle + 1 special + 1 sauce = 3-5 min. Overwhelmed? House Sushi = pre-designed, no decisions needed.
TBP outlet reviews: mixed. Go-to halal lunch for some. Portions inconsistent (especially delivery). Ingredients fresh but can be watery. Service complaints at this specific outlet. But halal sushi in this area = genuinely valuable.

Practical Info
Dietary
Maki Sushi
Maki = Japanese roll sushi tradition. California Roll was invented by Japanese chefs adapting to Western ingredients. Maki-San continues this fusion tradition — adapting maki to SG tastes + halal requirements.
Editor's Note
TBP's only halal sushi. DIY is fun. But TBP outlet has mixed reviews (portions, freshness, service). For serious sushi: Sushiro/Sushi Tei are better (not halal). Maki-San's value = halal + sushi + custom + convenience. No competition in that niche. SG-born brand — we note this honestly.
