About

Ichikokudo (一刻堂) made history as Singapore's first Halal-certified Hokkaido-style ramen restaurant, launching at Suntec City. Today, 4 outlets — 313@somerset, Suntec City, Changi Airport Terminal 3, and Hillion Mall — are all fully certified by MUIS.

The kitchen slow-simmers chicken bones daily for a rich broth finished with 100% Hokkaido kelp and aosa seaweed. Noodles use a special Hokkaido wheat blend for that firm, springy texture. Beyond ramen, the donburi menu is a genuine highlight.

Your Dining Journey

1

Choose Your Outlet

Ichikokudo has 4 outlets: 313@somerset (Orchard), Suntec City (CBD), Changi Airport T3, and Hillion Mall. All carry the full menu.

2

Ramen or Donburi?

Start with the Ichikokudo Ramen Original — the shoyu chicken broth is clean and deeply umami. For spice, choose Jigoku Ramen. The salmon donburi is the don highlight.

3

Customise Your Broth

You can request thick broth at the counter. The aosa seaweed topping is unique to Ichikokudo — a coastal umami finish worth keeping.

4

Add Sides

The chicken gyoza is Halal-friendly and juicy. Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) is another popular side. One ramen plus one side is a full meal.

5

Takeaway & Delivery

Ichikokudo offers takeaway and home delivery at ichikokudo.com. The Changi T3 outlet is a rare Halal Japanese option within the terminal — perfect before a flight.

Editor's Note

Ichikokudo fills a genuine gap in Singapore's Japanese dining landscape. For Muslim diners wanting a proper ramen experience, this is the answer. The chicken-based Hokkaido broth is legitimately good: clean, umami-rich, and finishing with a coastal note from the aosa seaweed. The Changi T3 outlet is a hidden gem — few airports offer a Halal Japanese ramen option of this quality.

Why Ichikokudo in Singapore

Singapore's Japanese food scene is one of the most competitive outside Japan, with hundreds of restaurants ranging from S$5 hawker-style ramen to S$500 omakase. In this crowded landscape, Ichikokudo has carved out a loyal following by delivering consistent quality at its price point. Whether you are a first-time visitor to Singapore looking for reliable Japanese food, or a resident seeking a trusted regular spot, this chain offers a dependable experience across all its outlets. The standardised recipes mean you get the same quality whether you visit the Orchard outlet or the one in your neighbourhood mall.

For tourists, the multi-outlet presence means there is likely a location near your hotel or on your itinerary. For residents, it means a familiar meal is never far away. Umami Compass recommends checking the individual area pages for outlet-specific details including exact addresses, nearest MRT stations, and local tips.

Ordering Tips

First-timers should start with the signature dish — it is the item the kitchen has perfected and the reason the chain built its reputation. If you are dining with a group, order a variety of items to share and discover your favourites. Lunch sets typically offer better value than ordering à la carte. Check the restaurant's social media for seasonal promotions and limited-time items. Most outlets are walk-in only with no reservations, so arriving slightly before or after peak lunch hours (12–1pm) will reduce waiting time.
