About Monster Curry
Monster Curry (モンスターカレー) is a Japanese curry restaurant chain that has been a Singapore favourite since its founding in 2012. Now with 12+ outlets islandwide (including Chinatown Point, ION Orchard, Bugis Junction, Jurong Point, Suntec City, and Tampines 1), the brand has built a loyal following through one unique proposition: it is the only restaurant in Singapore serving Japanese demi-glace curry, and it serves it in genuinely monstrous portions on iconic oversized plates. The Chinatown Point outlet at #02-45/46 is on Level 2, adding another Japanese dining option to what is already the strongest Japanese food floor in any Singapore mall.
The demi-glace curry itself is what makes Monster Curry special. Unlike standard Japanese curry (which is typically a roux-based sauce), demi-glace curry is a rich, complex sauce made by reducing stock with as many as 14 different vegetables and spices over extended cooking time. The result is smoother, deeper, and more nuanced than regular curry — fragrant without being heavy, rich without being cloying. All dishes are available at five spice levels: normal, hot, super spicy, monster spicy, and INSANE — allowing diners to calibrate the heat to their tolerance. The bold, fun restaurant decor is designed to match the oversized food, creating an energetic atmosphere that is particularly popular with groups and families.
The menu's star is the Flame Monster Curry — a sharing-sized plate loaded with pork shabu shabu, tori karaage (fried chicken), shrimp tempura, onsen egg, and melted cheese, all swimming in the signature demi-glace curry. It is as dramatic as it sounds and tastes as good as it looks. Other popular options include the Chashu Curry Ramen (ramen noodles in curry broth with tender chashu pork), the Monster Fish Burger, and various tonkatsu curry combinations. The 41cm sharing plate is designed for 2-3 people and makes for an impressive centerpiece at any table. Monster Curry is part of EN Group, which also operates Sushi Tei and other Japanese dining brands in Singapore.

From the first scoop to the last fiery bite — what to expect at Monster Curry.
Choose Your Spice Level
Every dish at Monster Curry is available in five spice levels: normal (gentle warmth), hot (noticeable kick), super spicy (building heat), monster spicy (serious fire), and INSANE (only for the brave). First-timers should start at normal or hot — the demi-glace curry is complex and flavourful on its own, and you want to be able to taste the 14-vegetable blend before the heat takes over. Regular visitors often work their way up the spice ladder over multiple visits.
Go Big or Go Home
The Flame Monster Curry on a 41cm plate is the full Monster Curry experience. It arrives at the table like a culinary spectacle: a massive plate loaded with pork shabu shabu, crispy tori karaage, shrimp tempura, a trembling onsen egg, and stretchy melted cheese — all drenched in the signature demi-glace curry. It is designed for sharing between 2-3 people, and it makes for one of the most Instagram-worthy Japanese dishes in Chinatown. Even the 35cm standard plates are larger than what most restaurants serve, ensuring you leave satisfied.
Taste the Demi-Glace Difference
The first spoonful of the demi-glace curry reveals why Monster Curry has maintained its following for over a decade. This is not your standard Japanese curry from a roux block — it is richer, smoother, and more complex, with layers of vegetable sweetness and spice that unfold as you eat. The curry coats the rice beautifully and pairs equally well with crispy katsu, tender shabu pork, or crunchy tempura. If curry ramen is more your style, the Chashu Curry Ramen delivers the same great curry in noodle form with tender braised pork.
Monster Curry fills a specific niche on Chinatown Point's Level 2 that no other Japanese restaurant there covers: the Japanese curry experience. While Kiwami does tonkotsu ramen and Gochi-So does Iberico pork, Monster Curry brings something genuinely unique with its 14-vegetable demi-glace curry and monster-sized plates. The 41cm sharing plates are fun, photogenic, and great for groups. The 5 spice levels add a challenge element. The EN Group backing (same company as Sushi Tei) provides operational stability. Monster Curry is not pretending to be fine dining — it is loud, bold, and unapologetically fun, and the curry is genuinely excellent.
