About

Menya Musashi (麺屋武蔵) was founded in Tokyo in 1996 and takes its name from Miyamoto Musashi, the legendary Edo-era swordsman famous for his distinctive double-sword fighting style. The brand operates on the motto of 'Originality' — striving to turn ramen preparation into a fine and revolutionary art form. In Japan, Menya Musashi is credited as a pioneer of a new ramen culture, earning a cult following among ramen enthusiasts.

In Singapore, Menya Musashi is operated by Japan Foods Holding (JFH), a publicly listed company on the Singapore Exchange that also runs Ajisen Ramen, Konjiki Hototogisu, Tokyo Shokudo, and other Japanese dining brands. The chain has expanded across the island with locations in major shopping malls. The signature three-broth system — White (rich tonkotsu pork bone), Black (garlic-infused), and Red (spicy) — gives diners clear, satisfying choices. Each broth is simmered for over nine hours, and noodles can be ordered in either thin or thick style.

Your Dining Journey

1

Pick Your Location

Menya Musashi locations are in most major shopping malls. No reservations — just walk in. Weekday afternoons are best for a quick seat.

2

Choose Your Broth & Noodles

Choose White for classic tonkotsu, Black for garlic depth, or Red for spice. Then pick thin or thick noodles. First-timers — start with White.

3

Consider the Tsukemen

Try the Bukotsu Mori tsukemen — noodles and broth served separately. Dip, don't pour. Menya Musashi does this specialty well.

4

Add Sides

The chicken karaage is consistently good. If ordering a set meal, the premium set with karaage, chawanmushi, and hojicha offers the best value.

5

Enjoy the Samurai Atmosphere

Take a moment to appreciate the samurai-themed decor. Check the in-store promotions board for seasonal specials before you leave.

Editor's Note

Menya Musashi occupies a sweet spot in Singapore's ramen landscape: genuinely satisfying bowls at prices that won't sting, in locations you can actually get to on a weekday lunch break. The three-broth system is simple and effective — Black is the crowd favourite for good reason, but the tsukemen is where the kitchen really shows its range. For consistent quality, fair pricing, and wide accessibility, Menya Musashi punches well above its price point. The samurai branding might seem like a gimmick, but the 9-hour broth behind it is anything but.

A Samurai's Legacy in Ramen

Miyamoto Musashi was a strategist, artist, and philosopher who wrote The Book of Five Rings. Menya Musashi applies his dual-mastery philosophy: ramen and tsukemen at the highest level. The triple broth system — White, Black, Red — offers a distinct experience with each visit. The Aburi Duck Ramen on garlic black broth is the signature that no other chain replicates. The interior decor features bold samurai wallart and dark wood, creating an atmosphere that transports you to a stylised Edo-period inn. Part of Japan Foods Holdings, the brand has grown steadily in Singapore with outlets at VivoCity, Bugis, Bedok, Westgate, and Tampines.
