About Kemuri

Kemuri (煙, 'smoke') — hidden charcoal kappo on Cuppage Plaza's 4th floor. Ring the bell to enter. Shunsui Group (6× Michelin Plate). July 2025: yakitori → charcoal kappo under Chef Yuki Saito, ex-Michelin-starred Kaiseki Komuro, Tokyo.

Same 11-seat space, but elevated ambition. Chef Saito's kappo combines charcoal grilling with kaiseki refinement. Cold yam somen, chicken with Parmesan, uni chawanmushi, seasonal fish — izakaya heartiness meets kaiseki elegance.

50+ sake labels with seasonal flights. Interior: modern bar meets traditional izakaya. After hours: members-only Late Dining Bar by referral — another layer of mystery.

Kemuri is Cuppage Plaza's most evolved Japanese concept. The July 2025 kappo pivot retained the fire-driven soul while expanding range. 50+ sake programme alone justifies a visit. Compared to Nanbantei: Kemuri is the contemporary evolution, Nanbantei is the proven classic. Cuppage Plaza isn't glamorous, but the hidden gem factor is real.
