Mister Donut
Why Mister Donut
About
Japan's largest donut chain. Founded US 1956, transformed by Duskin (Osaka) in 1983. First Japan store: Minoh, Osaka, 1971 — 4,000 donuts sold in the first hour. 900+ stores across Japan. Now in Singapore via RE&S Group.
In Singapore, operated by RE&S Group (Ichiban Boshi, Gokoku Bakery). Pop-up at Jurong Point (July 2022) drew 3-4 hour queues. First permanent outlet: Novena Square, May 2023. Now 12 outlets. Staff trained at Osaka academy. Japanese ingredients.
The soul is the Pon De Ring — tapioca mochi dough, chewy and bouncy, shaped like a lion's mane, pull apart to eat. Also: French Cruller (airy choux), Old Fashion (cookie-style), Chocolate (cakey), Yeast (soft ring), Churro (crispy). Six fundamentally different textures in one shop.

Editor's Note
The Pon De Ring is genuinely unique — mochi-mochi texture you can't get elsewhere. Same as Tokyo/Osaka. S$2.30. Hype has cooled — weekday walk-ins fine now. Best fresh. Not halal. But buy one, pull it apart, and you'll understand why Japan has 900+ stores.
