Tokyo Shokudo Bistro
At a Glance
Why This Matters
The ONLY halal Japanese at Bugis Junction. Next to Arab Street, Kampong Glam, Sultan Mosque. Every other Japanese restaurant here uses pork. Tokyo Shokudo = the complete halal Japanese solution.
JFH Group (Ajisen, Konjiki, Musashi parent). Launched 2017 for halal gap. 'Bistro' adds pizza, pasta, baked rice. One family: ramen + tendon + pizza + pasta — all halal, one roof. Rare flexibility.
Ramen: chicken broth (not tonkotsu). 4 bases: Original, Spicy, Tom Yum, Yuzu. Black Mayu = closest to tonkotsu depth while fully halal. Toppings: chicken chashu, beef, clams, duck. Tendon by Chef Akimitsu (5x Japan Donburi Awards gold).
Compass Verdict
A halal-certified Japanese bistro — rare in Singapore. Tokyo Shokudo Bistro offers proper Japanese set meals, donburi, and ramen in a sit-down restaurant setting, all without pork or alcohol. For Muslim diners who want more than fast food chains, this fills a genuine gap in the Bugis Japanese dining scene.

Editor's Note
Fills an essential gap — ONLY halal Japanese at Bugis Junction. Black Mayu ramen is creditable, tendon is excellent, Bistro adds rare flexibility. Honest: chicken broth is lighter than tonkotsu (physics, not criticism), beef items can be generic, closing time unclear (arrive before 9pm). For Muslim diners: not just the best — the ONLY option. And a good one. For mixed groups: the inclusive choice.
